SERMON SERIES: VINTAGE VIBES

PAST SERMONS (OVER FOUR DECADES) REIMAGINED FOR MODERN LIFE

Playing Second Fiddle | April 19

Jesus Before Christianity Series

The “Jesus Before Christianity” series addresses the crucial need for clarity about what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ, beyond the label “Christian.”

The Mission of The Tabernacle of Glory

The mission of our church is “We use our resources, tangible and intangible, to minimize human suffering and enhance human well-being. This is godliness to us.”

John 1:40

“One of the two who heard what John said and [as a result] followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.”

The Significance of Playing Second Fiddle

 ·       Playing second fiddle is not about settling for less. It is about understanding that God writes symphonies, not solos.

·       Some are called to lead. Some are called to support. Some are called to introduce. Some are called to stay steady. All are necessary.

·       Being secondary in position does not mean secondary in purpose

Greenisms

  • Influence Isn’t Always Loud: God honors the quiet work that happens out of sight just as much as the visible work done in front of others.

  • You Can Change Lives Without Leading the Crowd: You may never see the full impact of what you do, but one faithful connection can echo for generations.

  • Serving Behind the Scenes Is Still Sacred: Being spiritually, socially, and emotionally observant creates holy moments.

  • Secure Identity Frees Us from Comparison: When your identity is rooted in God rather than in applause, you stop competing and start contributing.

  • Redefine Success: In God’s kingdom, true impact and significance are measured by consistency, not outcomes.

  • Remember That God Sees What Others Miss: When you trust that God sees you fully, you no longer need human recognition to validate your worth.

Quote by Henri Nowen

“The greatest thing is not doing things for God but letting God do things through you.”
— Henri Nouwen

The Right to Look Out for Yourself | April 12

The Mission of The Tabernacle of Glory

The mission of our church is “We use our resources, tangible and intangible, to minimize human suffering and enhance human well-being. This is godliness to us.”

Jesus Before Christianity Series

The “Jesus Before Christianity” series addresses the crucial need for clarity about what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ, beyond the label “Christian.”

Matthew 7:6

“Do not give dogs, what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet and turn and tear you to pieces."

Some Places Are Not Destinations on the Earth, but Decisions Within the Soul...

Shared from a post:

  • I Will Not Go Above and Beyond When It’s Expected and Not Appreciated.

  • I Will Not Go Back and Forth in Unproductive Cycles

  • I Will Not Go Out of My Way for Misaligned Detours

  •  I Will Not Go the Way of Doing Too Much and Over‑Functioning

The Right to Look Out for Yourself Call to Action

  • Start by naming patterns, not people. Patterns often tell the truth when emotions are conflicted.

  • Practice pausing instead of reacting. Discernment lives in the pause.

  • Strengthen internal regulations. Leaving or changing a relationship often triggers anxiety, guilt, or fear of rejection.

  • Seek wise witnesses. Discernment grows in community. Look for people who listen without pushing an agenda.

  • Identify one thing that is holy in your life, your time, your rest, your emotional energy, your peace, and intentionally guard it this week. Protect and Clutch Your Pearls

  • Release one situation where you have been carrying responsibility that belongs to someone else or to God. Let love remain but step out of control. Trust God with One Outcome.

Making the Resurrection Relevant for Ordinary Life 2026 | April 05

The Mission of The Tabernacle of Glory

The mission of our church is “We use our resources, tangible and intangible, to minimize human suffering and enhance human well-being. This is godliness to us.”

Jesus Before Christianity Series

The “Jesus Before Christianity” series addresses the crucial need for clarity about what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ, beyond the label “Christian.”

Resurrection of Faith in Everyday Life

  • The resurrection offers a way of making sense of life when the world feels unstable and uncertain. It provides a foundation for meaning and purpose in a reality that often feels fragile.

  •  The resurrection reminds us that what appears finished is not always final. It is a reminder that God is still at work in places that seem closed, still bringing life from situations that feel beyond repair.

  •  The resurrection pushes us toward shared dignity, mutual care, and the restoration of relationships. Flourishing is no longer individual achievement but collective possibility.

  • The resurrection also challenges how we use what we have been given. Time, talent, influence, and resources are not meant to be preserved only for survival or comfort.

  • Resurrection faith moves us toward stewardship that promotes life, justice, and compassion. It shifts us from merely getting through life to participating in God’s renewing work within it.
  • The resurrection reshapes how we understand worship. Worship is not confined to a building, a liturgy, or a season. It becomes a way of life, an ongoing posture of trust, gratitude, and surrender to the God who has already defeated death.
